Benjamin Kelly, Director

imageBenjamin Kelly is the Director of Bands at Trent Middle School. His teaching responsibilities include directing Symphonic Band, Jazz Wolves, assisting Concert Band, and teaching the beginning Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, and Clarinet classes.

Prior to being the band director at Trent, Mr. Kelly taught at Stafford Middle School here in Frisco. He helped build the Stafford Sound Machine from its first year where the band had only a small handful of students to this last year where the band reached over 350 students. Bands under his direction consistently earned the Sweepstakes Award at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest. His jazz program was also highly recognized at multiple jazz festivals with many individual student awards.

Mr. Kelly graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. While there, he studied trumpet under Professor John Holt and was a member of the Concert Band, Brass Band, 3 O’ Clock Jazz band, and the Green Brigade Marching Band.

Mr. Kelly resides in Little Elm with his wife Carolise and new baby girl Caroleen. He is very excited about working with the amazing students and families at Trent Middle School and looking forward to building the Trent Timberwolf Band!

Jessica Coleman, Director


Jessica Coleman graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. During her time at UNT, she studied flute with Dr. Mary Karen Clardy, and performed in many ensembles including Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Phi Tau Winds. Ms. Coleman was involved with the Green Brigade Marching Band as a performer and a field technician. Ms. Coleman was a member of the international professional music fraternity, Mu Phi Epsilon and served as an executive board officer.

Ms. Coleman holds professional affiliations with Texas Music Educators Association, Mu Phi Epsilon, and Pi Kappa Lambda.
